To know Jason was to love Jason. Jason took pride in being the best big brother, a loving family man, and putting his son above everything. His charisma could light up a room. Jason had many people who loved and supported him throughout his life, and he continued that impact. He opened his arms to all who needed it. He left his mark on everyone lucky enough to encounter him. To call him a hard worker would be an understatement. Jason excelled at anything he put his mind to. Jason loved to spend his free time outside, either riding his bike with his fiancé or climbing trees with his son. He loved basketball and taking care of others. Jason was always dancing and making people smile. Above everything, he loved being a dad.
Survivors include his son, Elijah Phelps; fiancé, Stephanie Ray, who celebrated their five-year anniversary the day he passed away; parents, Mike and Marci Butler, Jason Phelps, Sr., and Tamara Banks; siblings, Jaylon Harvey, Tanner (Rebecca) Werner and their four sons, Chris Phelps, Savalaus Jackson, Brandon Phelps, Caleb Phelps, Michael Butler, Rachel Miller and her son, Sabrielle Phelps, Christian Phelps, Ayden Barrette; grandparents, Rose Phelps, Mandy Banks, Gayle Tubbs, Nancy Gorius, and Stuart Gorius; his two dogs, Kino and Cuban; a large extended family; his best friend Parker Brown; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mike Tubbs, Josephine and Otis Moore, Sr.; brother, Daniel Butler; and best friend, Josh Peiffer.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a fund that has been established.
