Jared, Joyce J. 'Jo'
Joyce J. “Jo” Jared, 77, of Robins, died at her home Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Private family entombment in the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; two daughters, Jeannie Jones of Cedar Rapids and Janet (Paul) Patterson of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; two stepsons, Michael (Brooke) Jared and Scott (Amy) Jared, all of Marion; a sister, Karen (Sandy) Alt of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Donald (Lydia) Reed of Marion.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant twin sisters.
Jo was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Gerald and Mildred McArthur Reed. She married Robert R. Jared on Aug. 28, 1985 in Decatur, Ind. Jo worked in housekeeping at Kingston Hill for over 13 years.
As a young girl, Jo was a member of the 4-H. She had a green thumb and enjoyed the flowers in her garden, butterflies, going to the casino and especially the time she spent with friends and her beloved family. Jo will be greatly missed and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to the Parkinson foundation.
