Our beloved son, Jared, 20, of Coralville, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jared Donovan Memorial Fund, in care of Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, IA 52240.
Jared was born Sept. 6, 1996, the son of Ed and Kelly (Rempe) Donovan. He graduated from Iowa City West High in 2015 and was passionate about the field of exercise science. He enjoyed working at the Hy-Vee store in Coralville, where he established many great friendships.
Jared lived an active and adventurous life and was a naturally gifted athlete. He had a warm, compassionate and loving nature. He was very loyal to his family and friends. He enjoyed playing video games and his friends often commented that his skills were unmatched. Jared's friends admired him and enjoyed receiving his signature hugs. Jared had his own unique style, whether it was his style of dress or the way he lived his life. His friends enjoyed his great sense of humor; not just anyone would get away with wearing a dinosaur costume to a restaurant. Jared was wise beyond his years and a true treasure to all who knew and loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Kelly Donovan, Coralville; his father, Ed Donovan, Solon; 14 aunts and uncles, Judy (Bob) Pezley, Kathy Harper, Joey Skaar, John (Diane) Rempe, Jim (Becky) Rempe, Mike (Peg) Rempe, Patty (Tom) Pollpeter and Colleen Rempe, Beth (Bernie) Erenberger, Mike (Corliss) Donovan, John (Joy) Donovan, Jim (Lisa) Donovan, Laura (Sajjad) Ali and Joe (Carmen) Donovan; 40 cousins; and many more extended family members. His beloved golden retriever, Jibilee O'Brien (Jib), also will greatly miss Jared.
Jared was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Charlotte Donovan; maternal grandparents, John and Ruth Ann Rempe; and his uncles, Richard Rempe and Dr. Frank Harper.
Jared's family would like to thank all the family and friends for their overwhelming love and support during this difficult time.
