Jansen, Ruth L.
Ruth L. Jansen, 93, of Onslow, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa. A celebration of her life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming, with the Rev. Christopher Doyle officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home, Wyoming. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming.
Ruth L. Lathrop was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Oxford Junction, Iowa, to Thomas and Faye (Karns) Lathrop. She attended Hale Union No. 6 School, graduated from Onslow High School and attended Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids. Ruth was united in marriage to Donald D. Jansen on June 12, 1940, near Onslow, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2006. Ruth was a hairdresser in Onslow for over 40 years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Onslow, and its church circle, Onslow Guild, and the Ladies Bridge Club.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Jerilyn (Bob Hertner) Danielson and Joan (Don Buchholtz) Davis, both of Wyoming; two grandsons, Jason (Pam) Martensen of Onslow, and Eric Danielson of Minneapolis, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Alaina and Avery Martensen; one brother, James “Bud” Lathrop of Florida; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister and two brothers.
Memorials are preferred.
