Jansen, Hildegard M.
Hildegard M. Jansen, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died at St. Luke's Hospital Thursday, May 27, 2010. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church by Pastor Phil Jorgensen. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Please note that a visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church after 9:30 a.m.
Hildi is survived by her husband, Cliff; children, Karen (Michael) Howard of Ames, Kathy (John) Harms of Monticello, and Kurt (Donna) Jansen of Johnsburg, Illinois; sister, Clara Juett of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Johanna and Lois; and two brothers, Kurt and Frederick.
Hildi was born September 22, 1928, in St. Donatus to Rev. Frederick and Clara Kehren. She graduated from Monticello High School and later from Cedar Rapids Business College as a legal secretary. She married Clifford Jansen in Monticello on June 12, 1949. She was first employed at Collins Radio and later as a legal secretary for Simmons Perrine, retiring after 32 years.
Hildi was a member at Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she was actively involved in church activities. She enjoyed knitting and cooking, especially collecting recipes and cookbooks. She and Cliff enjoyed traveling and local camping in their motorhome - the Hildi Hilton. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren.
