Janis Kaye Moore, born April 12, 1944, died December 4, 2023. Her adopted parents were Ray and Helma Moore. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where Janis attended Johnson, Franklin and Washington public schools there. She received a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Iowa in 1971. She was an accomplished equestrian with her own horse for whom she cared.
Moving to Chicago, in 1972 she worked for WCFL Radio, organizing promotional contests. In 1976 she joined PaineWebber as Account Executive/ Trading Assistant, and in 1987 joined Merrill Lynch as a broker Trading Assistant.
Moving to Gary, Indiana in 1991 she worked for the Humane Society and then as a correspondent for the Gary, Indiana Post Tribune. She loved her dogs and wrote several books about understanding and appreciating dogs.
Janis was sweet and kind and those whom she encountered had a special place in the heart for her. She will be missed by her many friends.
Janis is survived by her brother, Ron Moore, Cedar Rapids. Funeral and burial was December 18.
