Janice Marie Behnken, 88, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at home with her family present. Celebration of Life and burial at Oakland Cemetery for Janice will take place at a later time. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Manchester has assisted the family.
Janice was born on July 16, 1936, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil and Mildred (Hansel) Renfrow. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1954, then from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On March 29, 1957, Janice was united in marriage to Ronald Behnken at the Manchester United Methodist Church. Janice was a Registered Nurse for the Manchester Hospital and Dr. R.E. Clark and Dr. Larry Severt and then was the plant nurse for Henderson Products in Manchester. Janice was an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia. She was a member of the Retired Nurses group in Manchester.
Janice is survived by her husband, Ron Behnken of Manchester; two sons, Jon (Connie) Behnken of Manchester, and Jeff Behnken of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Jessie (Jay) Watson, and Justin Behnken ; three great-grandchildren, Everly and Miles Watson, and April Behnken; siblings, Chuck Renfrow of Edgewood and Jean (Bob) Ungs of Manchester; sisters-in-law, Doreen Renfrow of Bloomington, Minnesota and Gayle Renfrow of Lenexa, Kansas; and the couple’s lap dog, Mocha.
She was preceded by her parents, Virgil and Mildred Renfrow; siblings, Maynard Renfrow, Robert Renfrow, June (Don) Lewis.
The family would like to thank Care Initiatives Hospice for the support that was given to Janice and her family. A very special thank you to Melissa Hutchison for the loving care during this time.
