JANICE DEAVER
Anamosa
Janice Deaver, 73, of Anamosa, Iowa, rested from all her earthly labors on December 5, 2017, at home with her family. She is now clothed with immortality because of her faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on Calvary. Her desire is for you to experience the same certainty.
Jan was born on May 6, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Blanche (Sewell) Konigsmark. She was a cheerleader at Jefferson Senior High School, where she met her husband, Keith, a record-setting pole vaulter in 1960. Two years later they were married and moved to Boston, where Keith was stationed in the Navy. They moved back to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1963 to have their sons in 1964 and 1965. Jan worked at home most of her married life in order to raise her sons with love and discipline. She also worked part-time for some years at Kenmore and Wilson schools, where she loved assisting disabled children. Other jobs included John Hancock Insurance in Boston, Quaker Oats, Armstrong Department Store, Square D factory in Cedar Rapids & Guarantee Bank in Marion. Jan and Keith enjoyed traveling around the United States in their RV but also to Mexico and Israel. She had a passion for Jesus and others, and always was ready to share the Gospel and love of Jesus with those who were willing to listen. Jan studied the Scriptures tirelessly with the intent to understand and apply the Word of God in daily life.
She is survived by her husband, Keith, her children, Scott (Silvia) of Turin, Italy, and Steve (Jennifer) of Central City, her brother, Robert (Connie) of Cedar Rapids, and 7 grandchildren.
The memorial service for Jan Deaver will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 2 p.m. at Goettsch Funeral Home at 306 East First St., Anamosa, IA 52205.
