Janet M. Slaymaker, 78, of Marengo, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Marengo Memorial Hospital. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Father Joseph Roost officiating. The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home.
Memorials may be contributed to Iowa Valley Community Schools, Essence of Life Hospice or Safe Haven of Iowa County in her memory.
Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Janet Mae Hollrah was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis J. Hollrah and Helen M. Bruns Hollrah. She graduated from Mitchellville High School with the class of 1955. Janet worked at Amana Refrigeration for several years as an inspector of the Radar Range and side-by- side lines. She also worked at Iowa Valley Elementary School as a cook for many years.
She enjoyed sports and loved attending many games and meets over the years. She also enjoyed working in her yard.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Angie (Randy) Carney of Marengo; her son, Anthony "Tony" (Wynnette) Slaymaker of Riverside; four grandchildren, Lyndsey Carney of Marengo, Holly (John) Hinshaw of Marengo, and Eli and Stella Slaymaker of Riverside; a sister, Virginia Remsburg of Phoenix, Ariz.; and her beloved four-legged grandbaby, Braydee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Gene, Bob, Duane and Bill Hollrah; two sisters, Dorothy Hollrah and Sandra Fuller; and her loyal companions, Maggie and Britt.
