Janet "Jan" Florence McAleer, 84, of Arvada, Colo., died on Aug. 25, 2023. Jan was born in Ossian, Iowa, to Fred and Rose Miller, she was the youngest of six children. Jan was a 1956 graduate of Martelle High School. She married Thomas McAleer in Anamosa, Iowa, and they had five boys. In 1969, Tom and Jan moved to Arvada, Colo.
Jan is survived by her five sons, Timothy (Mary), Theodore, Terrance (Ann), Thomas (Cheryl), and Matthew (Julie); 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; siblings Lucille Swanson, Gladys (Clifford) Payne, and Irene (Richard) Nickels; several brothers/sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas, and her siblings Anna Mae Tiemann and Leonard Miller.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to some of Jan’s favorites interests, which include Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church, Regis Jesuit High School, Regis University, and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.
