Janet Faye Podzimek passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Family Center. Jan was born on April 26, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to William and Alice Macha. She was a lifelong Scout Leader, starting as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts, and then moving into Boy Scouts working as a District Commissioner. She sat on many Eagle Scout Board of Reviews over her years of service. Jan was the recipient of many honors, but her most loved was the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Joseph, Sr.; and grandson, Andrew.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Joe (Vicky) Podzimek; daughter, Juli Spilman; granddaughters, Kristy (Mike) Mussig and Tiffany (Melvin) Barlow; grandsons, Bryan and Michael Podzimek; and great-grandchildren, Collin Mussig and Jacey, Melvin, Riley, Barrett and Emerson Barlow.
The family has respectfully requested no flowers as burial will be private and at a later date.
A memorial fund has been established.
