Janet M. Bodkin, 74, of Maquoketa, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at her home. Her funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. A visitation will be Friday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Maquoketa.
Janet Marie was born July 20, 1941, to Ted and Dorothy (Buck) Hamilton in Iowa City, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Thomas Bodkin on June 15, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eagles Club and Spousal Support Group in Maquoketa. She loved to bowl and was in a bowling league. Janet was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and spending time at the casino.
Those left to honor Janet's memory are her four children, Richard (Theresa) Bodkin of Davenport, Steve (Debbie) Bodkin of Maquoketa, Billy Bodkin of Bellevue and Mary (Louis) Cubbage of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, soon to be 12; two sisters, Sandy Conley and Linda (Roger) Workman; and four brothers, Don Hamilton, Thomas (Faye) Hamilton, Larry Hamilton and Gene (Judy) Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Yavonne and Kay; and a brother-in-law, Rich Conley.
