Janet E. Aler, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center,
Cedar Rapids. Services: noon Monday, Oct. 13, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends two hours before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell; son, David (Lesa) Aler; three grandchildren, Myles, Sydney and Spencer Aler; and one brother, Michael (Pam) Kane, all of Cedar Rapids; four nephews and one niece.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
Janet was born Nov. 28, 1945, in Cedar Rapids to her parents, Lester and Carol (Dunn) Kane. She graduated from Jefferson High School and Kirkwood Community College, where she received her A.A. degree. She later attended Hamilton Business College. She married Darrell Aler on March 17, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. Janet was employed for 30 years at Rockwell Collins.
She was an avid gardener and sports fan, but her greatest love of all was her family.
