JANEAN MARIE STIGERS
Homestead
Janean Marie (Hawkins) Stigers, 65, of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away Dec. 11, 2016, of heart failure. As she wished, she was cremated. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date in Albuquerque.
Janean was born April 5, 1951, in Iowa City to Harlin Floyd and Darlene (Klein) Hawkins. She grew up on the farm near Homestead, and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church there. She graduated from Amana High School in 1969. That same year she married Tom Honolka; they later divorced. She married Tom Stigers in 1976.
As a young woman, Janean relocated with her family to Arlington, Texas. Career opportunities later took her to Albuquerque, where she still made her home and was employed as senior mortgage underwriter for Stearns Lending.
Janean was creative and artistic, looking forward to the day she'd retire and pick up her paints again. She was generous and supportive, with a contagious laugh and youthful spirit. She made every kid in the family feel special, which made her special to all of them. She loved her family and was extremely proud of the achievements and talents of her children and grandchildren.
Janean is survived by her son, Benjamin Honolka, and her daughter, Andrea Gautney, both of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lyndsay, Logan, Landon and Lawson Honolka, Devon and Piper Gautney and Zoe Gallegos; and stepdaughter, Cyndi Stigers Stepich in California. Also surviving are a sister, Harlene (Bill) Stewart of Cedar Rapids; and brothers, Harlin (Sandi) Hawkins of Cedar Rapids and Lauren (Shelly) Hawkins of Arden Hills, Minn.
Her parents and her husband, Tom Stigers, preceded her in death.
Nean, you are gone too soon.
