Jane Marie Porter, 45, of Coggon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at her home. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. Monday, May 22, at Marion Avenue Baptist Church, located at, 215 S Marion Ave., Washington, Iowa. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with Pastor Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Coggon Cemetery in Coggon.
Jane was born on Aug. 8, 1977, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Joan (Takes) Manternach. She was a 1995 graduate of Monticello High School. On June 14, 1997, Jane was united in marriage to Randy Porter at the Monticello Baptist Church. At the age of 16, Jane trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Her family was vitally important to her. She was a stay-at-home mom and spent her time raising and homeschooling her children. Jane was an active member of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church, where she was loved and appreciated by all. She enjoyed her daily Bible reading, baking, walking her dog, Evie, camping and fishing. Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jane is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 25 years, Randy; sons, Jeremiah (Mary) Porter of Washington and Micah Porter of Coggon; daughter, Hannah (Samuel) George of Ainsworth; step-grandchildren, Landon and Kaylee; parents, Daniel (Joan) Manternach of Monticello; siblings, Tom (Sherrie) Manternach of Wilton, Sharon (Matthew) Graham of Maryland, Carol Moser of Florida, Tim (Heather) Manternach of Central City, Rod (Amanda) Manternach of Monticello, Greg (Brooke) Manternach of Ryan, Mark Manternach of Cedar Rapids and Mary Jo Manternach of Monticello; sister-in-law, Jeanna (Robert) Collins of Springville; mother and father-in-law, Russel (Penny) Porter of Alburnett; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Manternach; and grandparents.
