Jane A. Sayre, 69, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on Dec. 31, 2020, at her home. She was born on Nov. 16, 1951, in Cherokee, Iowa, to David L. and Betty E. Sayre. She graduated high school from Cherokee in 1970, and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1974 with a B.A. in Music (Instrumental/vocal). Jane taught instrumental and vocal music in several school districts in Iowa as well as Arkansas and South Dakota and substituted in Cedar Rapids and Oskaloosa. She got her BA in Laboratory Technology from Minnesota and worked as a lab technician at Humboldt County memorial and as a lab supervisor at Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa for many years. Jane had a love of music and a deep devotion to God. She was a member of the Omega Church in Oskaloosa and often played the organ there. Jane also loved her dachshund, Fritz.
She is survived by her siblings, MaryEllen (Marvin) Hurd of West Des Moines, Patricia Howard of Cedar Rapids,and John (Linda) Sayre of Columbia, Md. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews whom she loved, Mary (Kyle) Griffin, RuthAnn Hurd, Elizabeth (Nathan) Balder, David (Danielle) Hurd, Laura Howard, Nathan (Maria) Howard, Steven (Lucy) Howard, Patrick (Andrea Jones) Sayre and David (Samantha Walters) Sayre.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in Charge of arrangements.
