James "Jim" Dean Wurster, 56, of Springville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, from complications of MS. Celebration of Life will be Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the family farm south of Springville.
The family invites anyone who would like to attend and share stories and memories of Jim.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth (Wood) Wurster of Springville; daughter, Jillian (Matt Snell) Wurster of Davenport; son, Benjaman (Randi) Ogle of Batavia, Iowa; three grandchildren, Gavin Ogle of Mount Vernon and Devyn Ogle and Paityn Carnes, both of Batavia; siblings, Abby Wiertzema of Phoenix, N.Y., Terry (Nancy) Wurster and Don Wurster of Springville, Amy (Mark) Hansen of Oxford and Susan Wurster of Cedar Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daryl J. Wurster; grandparents, Lewis and Mildred Wurster and John and Clara Wood; and uncle, Earl Wurster.
James Dean Wurster was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Daryl. J. and Ruth (Wood) Wurster on Aug. 30, 1959. After graduating from high school, he became a millwright and welder.
He had a love for racing, building his own cars, and racing the Hobby Stock for several years at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. As the MS curtailed his mobility, he loved his Harley golf cart and operating the family excavator.
His body was accepted into the Deeded Body Program at the University of Iowa for MS research.

The family is deeply grateful for the care James received in neurology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City as well as the skilled care provided at Linn Manor Care Center.
He will be dearly missed by all who loved him or knew him as a friend.
