Cedar Rapids
James E. White, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, following a short illness. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Cherie; two sons, Ty (Toni) and Todd (Tracy), both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Trask (McKenzie), Taran (Jake), Tiona (Riley), Abby (Dan) and Caleb; great-grandchildren, Jase and Halstyn; sister, Pam (Doug)White; brother, Richard (Glenda) White; cousin, Jim (Jean) White; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Shirley Schultz, Betty Fadley, Barbara Wolfe, Sandy Muldoon and Linda White; brothers, Sonny White, Patrick White and his best friend and brother, Jerry White; and stepsisters, Kay Momson and Georgia Maddon.
Jim was born June 20, 1941, in Iowa City, the son of William Richard and Helen Stewart White. He attended Harrison grade school and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960. Jim started working at Smulekoff's at a young age and learned the trade of upholstery. In 1965, he began working in building maintenance for the Cedar Rapids Community School District, retiring in 2004. Jim proudly served as a Cedar Rapids Police Reserve Officer from 1986 to 2006.
He was a wonderful person and will be deeply missed by his family.
The family would like to thank the Hospice House of Mercy for their excellent care.
