JAMES TULLY
Cedar Rapids
James "Jim" W. Tully, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, after courageously fighting a long illness.
Jim was born Feb. 10, 1944, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Richard (Dick) and Lenora (Toots) Beach Tully. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1962. He married the love of his life, Linda Carman Tully, on Aug. 29, 1965, in Kirksville, Mo., and they moved to Cedar Rapids in 1966. Jim was a hard working dedicated employee, working for Midland Forge for over 40 years, retiring in 2011.
Jim's passions were woodworking, spending time with his family, and camping, which always included making the best campfires.
Jim was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and friend. There wasn't anything he couldn't build or fix and always was there to give a helping hand. Jim was known for his stories which you could listen to for hours and his sense of humor (sarcasm).
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda; his three children, Lori (Mike) Goins of Nichols, Iowa, Jeff Tully of Lincoln, Neb., and Tina (Paul) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Shane Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Austin Anderson and Ally Goins; two great-granddaughters, Sky and Hunter; and a sister, Carolyn (Max) Schlarbaum of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Tom, Larry and David Tully.
At Jim's request, there won't be a service.
To celebrate Jim's life, a visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
