James "Jim" D. Scholl, 68, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A gathering for friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Deb; stepdaughter, Deidre Belcher of Fairfax; brother, Sid Scholl of LaPorte, Texas; two dogs, Riley and Yankee Doodle; and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billy Scholl.
Jim was born Jan. 24, 1948, in Bagley, Minn., son of Wilmer and Mary (Flaws) Scholl. He served in the Army where he was stationed in Germany. Jim and Deb Kirkey were united in marriage in Belle Plaine, Iowa, on Dec. 31, 1976. He worked for Local 263 as a sheet metal worker.
Jim was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, gardening, cutting firewood, horseback/trail riding, leather working and motorcycles.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to all of the relatives, St. Luke's Hospice, the Ghosh Center and friends who have helped and cared for Jim during this time.
He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Jim's memory.
