James R. Kazimour II, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a courageous battle with heart disease. A visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private family services will be held later.
James was born in Cedar Rapids on Dec. 25, 1956, to Jim and Jean Kazimour. He graduated from LaSalle High School and Mount Mercy College, and began a career at Rockwell Collins as a financial analyst. He had the opportunity to work in Saudi Arabia and do some world traveling. He retired from Rockwell in 2014 due to heart disease. On Aug. 14, 2009, he married Philip Stechcon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by an infant brother, James Michael.
Survivors are his parents, Jim and Jean Kazimour; sisters, Mary and Ann (John); brothers, David (Janelle) and Steven (Susie); numerous nieces and nephews; and his spouse, Philip Stechcon. He also is survived by three felines, Dusty, Calvin and Toby.
Instead of flowers, donations to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403, would be appreciated.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics' physicians and nursing staff for their excellent care and compassion for James since his diagnosis with heart disease in 2013. Also to his health care team in Cedar Rapids, and many family members and friends who have provided support since his diagnosis.
