James Peter Bibby, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House. A public visitation will be held from ¬1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A private family service will follow the visitation.
James was born June 20, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Paul and Margaret (Schissel) Bibby. After he graduated from high school, he attended the University of Iowa. He served in the United States Army in Korea. He married Jane Mahoney on Nov. 30, 2002, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked at Rockwell Collins for many years.
He enjoyed fishing and playing golf with his buddies. James also enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with them, especially his grandchildren.
James is survived by his loving wife, Jane Bibby; stepchildren, Jessica (Erik) Henne and Brett Mahoney; grandchildren, Hailey and Regan Dundee, and Claire, Julia, Abigail and Natalie Mahoney; siblings, Ann (Buzz) Clark, Janet (Bruce) Munter, Tom (Joanie) Bibby, Gary (Peggy) Bibby and Dave (Laura) Bibby; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and twin brothers.
