JAMES OPITZ
Strawberry Point
James "Jim" Joseph Opitz, 63, of Strawberry Point, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at his residence in Strawberry Point.
He was born June 2, 1953, the son of Joseph William Opitz and Mary Grace (O'Brien) Opitz. James was raised and educated in Strawberry Point, graduating from Starmont High School
in 1971. He worked for
Seedorf Masonry for 43 years until October 2016, when he had to stop due to health reasons.
James loved to go camping with his family, fishing, and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed being with his friends. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with family.
Survivors include his three children, Marcia Miller of Norwalk, John (Rashelle) Opitz of Ely and Mary Ann (Andy) Popham of Lamont; a special friend, Lynn Dahling of Strawberry Point; and 10 grandchildren: Bryce, Rachel and Michala Miller; Ethan, Jake, Brittney and Wyatt Opitz; and Addison, Carter and Lexi Popham.
James was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point, with the Rev. Susan Friedrich officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Strawberry Point. Friends also may call one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment: Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point.
