James "Nick" Nielson, 86,
of Marion, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: private at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Gloria Nielson; his son, Dennis L. (Deb) Nielson of Newhall; his daughter, Tammie (Jeff) Brewer of Marion; his grandchildren, Adam (Greta) Nielson of Shellrock, Iowa, Jacob Nielson of Keystone, Iowa, and Shelby Brewer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and his great grandchildren, Emma and Ian Nielson and Haley Sinn.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
James was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Otto and Thelma (Betzer) Nielson. James was a route driver for Sunbeam Bakery in Cedar Rapids. James and Gloria were members of the Creative Colony in the Amanas for more than 30 years. Together they enjoyed creating and selling their crafts, including rug weaving and wood working. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. A gathering will be held at a later date.
