James Nehring, 77, passed away at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 4-6:00 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, and a Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Graveside Committal with military honors will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at South Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, Illinois.
James was born August 15, 1946, son to Edwin and Muriel (Govig) Nehring, in Sterling, Illinois. James worked in sales for Cedar Rapids Photo Copy.
James was a member of Solid Rock Productions, Powerhouse, and other various organizations. He also was a volunteer for youth ministry.
James was known to be very patient, with the biggest heart, and had a sense of humor that always brought a smile to your face. He tinkered with everything and loved eating sour candy.
James is survived by his children, Eric (Tammy) Nehring and Bryan (Kayla) Nehring; grandchildren, Linder Nehring, Dalton Nehring, Layne Nehring, Dahlia Nehring, and Kharl Nehring; brother, Ron (Karen) Nehring; nephew, John (Karen) Nehring; niece, Janet (Mark) Crounheart; half-sister, Christine Radostits; and many loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jacklyn Nehring; and son, Michael Nehring.
Memorials may be made to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, 1301 Summit Street Marshalltown, Iowa 50158.
