JAMES MINNICK
Central City
James Minnick, 72, of Alamo, Texas, and Central City, formerly of Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Corinne Minnick; children, James Jr. (Vanessa), Tami (Lonnie) Soukup, Alicia (Brian) White and Emilie; seven grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Pam), Bill (fiancee Nancy) and Mike (Rhonda); and a sister, Paulette (Greg) Keeley.
Jim was born in Ohio on April 11, 1943, and graduated from college there. He moved to Iowa around 1973 to work for Collins Radio. He told his third wife, Corinne, that he had always wanted to be a farmer, so they bought a farm near Central City, Iowa, and farmed for several years.
After retirement, Jim became a winter Texan. Throughout the years he did much traveling, camping and geocaching. When traveling to and from Texas, he would spend at least three weeks stopping at interesting places. While in Texas he taught English to non-English speaking Mexican immigrants and he and Corinne traveled to Mexico frequently. He was involved with the Casa del Valle First Responders at the park where he lived in Texas. He was an interesting man who lived an interesting life and he is deeply missed.
Memorials may be made to Central City Amvets, 15 1/2 S. Fourth St., Central City, IA 52214.
Thank you to Casa del Valle First Responders, MedEx Ambulance Service, Rio Grande Regional Hospital and all of our friends and family.
