JAMES E. MILLS
Cedar Rapids
James E. Mills, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Kentucky on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, after a battle with gastric cancer. Services will be held at a later date.
Jim was born on July 27, 1945, to Ellsworth and Marie (Gardner) Mills in Chicago. He moved to Lexington, Ky., at an early age where he later obtained a master's degree in psychology. He worked as a school psychologist for Grant Wood A.E.A. in Cedar Rapids for many years until his retirement, when he and his wife returned to Lexington to be with family. He married Dianne Alley on May 6, 1969, in Lexington.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Dianne Alley Mills; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Ramon) Juanso; sister-in-law, Carol Neal; many nieces and nephews; and his Shih Tzu, Madeline, who he often referred to as his "daughter."
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and his son, James E. Mills Jr.
Jim loved the Lord with all his heart and his greatest desire was to lead others to God. We are comforted that he is now at rest with his Savior. Jim's family would like to thank Hospice of the Blue Grass for their wonderful care during his illness, especially Meghan, his nurse.
Donations can be made to Hospice of the Blue Grass or Church of the Savior, Nicholasville, Ky.
