James M. Staveley “Fuzzy”, 72, of Coralville, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa from complications of Parkinsons and COPD.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
James was born on December 8, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Merwyn and Charlotte (Kidd) Staveley.
James graduated from East Buchanan Community School in Winthrop, Iowa, in 1970. Soon after, he moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa and made his career at Wayne Engineering for 27 years, as well as completing a bachelor's degree in religious studies from The University of Northern Iowa. When not at work, James enjoyed formal and non-formal education, reading anything he could get his hands on, listening to many different types of music, with Bob Dylan being his favorite, as well as cooking any recipe he could obtain. He also loved the outdoors, often camping, fishing, and canoeing in his younger years. James was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, as well as frequently front and center at any live music event or party he was invited to. He will be fondly remembered as a good friend and the life of the party.
Survivors include his daughters: Sara Soto (Staveley) and Eve Staveley; grandchild, Taylor Bellings; siblings: Ellis (Patricia) and Richard Staveley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law: Virginia (Richard) Sherretts.
The family would like to thank the staff at Windmill Manor for their compassionate care.
