James Leigh Joslin, 68, of Marion, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha after a long battle with cancer, but not without putting up a courageous fight. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, following the service.
James was born March 28, 1950, the son of Fred and Dorothea (Bates) Joslin, in Clinton, Iowa. He was married to Virginia Rae Techau on May 5, 1989, in Cedar Rapids. James worked for Quality Pest Control before retiring in 2012. He enjoyed many hobbies including reading, history and watching "Ghost Adventures." James inherited his children and grandchildren through marriage and quickly became a great role model for them. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Joslin; two sons, David (Sherri) Schooley and Donald Schooley; daughter, Dianna (Robert) Lahue; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian Siemer; one niece; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Schooley; and brother, Fred Allen Joslin.
