James “Jim” W. Heath, 90, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Interment at the Lafayette Cemetery in Alburnett will follow.
Jim was born June 25, 1932. He was the youngest of eight children. His father was killed when he was 16 and he quit school to help take care of his mother. He was united in marriage to Shirley E. Ward in 1955. Jim had many jobs, which included his own Gazette and freight route with his business Heath Trucking. He was a good worker and was always out and about, especially working in his shed.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley E. Heath; daughter, Nancy (Jon) McRoberts; grandchildren, Danielle Schomer of Detroit, and Debra McRoberts and James McRoberts, both of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Shirley Ward.
He had two daughters who passed away at the beginning of the year, and a grandson, Michael Schomer, who died in 2010.
