James “Jim” Russell Perry, 70, of Independence, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, surrounded by family.
Jim was born on Sept. 3, 1952, in Hudson, Iowa, the son of Russell Thomas Perry and Minnie Koenig Perry. Growing up he lived in Hudson, Iowa, and Jesup, Iowa. Jim graduated from Jesup High School in 1971. He married Gloria Baldwin in 1972 but they later divorced.
Jim spent most of his work life at Goss, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jim enjoyed working there and the people he worked with. Jim always had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He enjoyed working with computers and was an avid race fan.
Jim is survived by his children, Michael (Katie) Perry of Independence, Iowa, and Michelle (Mike) Johnston of North Liberty, Iowa; grandchildren, Will Perry and Parker and Kelsey Johnston; and siblings, Mary Reisner of Traer, Iowa, and Pam (Dan) Foster of Childress, Texas, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and nephew.
