Walker
James “Jim” Rashid, 71, of Walker, Iowa, was born on Nov. 18, 1950, and died on June 4, 2022.
As an avid fisherman, Jim often referred to the water on the Mississippi as too high, too low, too fast, and too dirty; but all those days were still good fishing days. Finally, the water was “just right.” He joined his dad, brother, and many fishing friends in Heaven on June 4, 2022.
Jim succumbed to multiple myeloma. It was his wish that there be no funeral. His plan was to wait for his wife, Tonyia, of 47 years, at which time their ashes are to be spread along with their cherished pets, Maxx and Molly.
Jim was a good and patient man. He was loved and respected by many including his sons, Eric (Claire) and Tom (Dina). His granddaughters called him Paw Paw and he loved playing dress up with them. He was very happy to have been able to take them boating and fishing.
He was extremely good at his trade and loved teaching the next generation of HVAC technicians. His knowledge and expertise was shared with many! He was even known to take service calls even while sitting on a boat and was able to talk many through an A/C crisis.
In lieu of memorials or flowers, the family asks that you honor Jim’s memory by doing what he loved: take a child fishing, teach them what you know, cherish your family, and always remember to enjoy life.
Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
