JAMES "JIM" P. MCINROY
Colorado Springs, Colo.
James "Jim" P. McInroy, 81, passed away on July 6, 2021. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colo.; most of his life was spent in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jim was born on March 17, 1940, to Carl and Emma McInroy (Horstmen). He grew up on a farm in rural Riceville, Iowa, with his three brothers.
Jim enjoyed his friends and family and spent many days fishing and hunting with his boys, family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling to numerous softball/baseball games and watching his grandchildren play ball for several years. He loved his grandchildren very much. Jim also enjoyed road trips with his wife Christina.
Jim attended a one-room country schoolhouse through the eighth grade, then attended Riceville High school, graduating in 1957. He served in the United States Army for eight years, three in active duty in the Cold War and five years in the reserve. He was awarded distinguished service in the U.S. Army for exceptional duty and honor.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Christina M. McInroy (Borgerson); her children, Charese Borgerson (Colorado), Lauren Borgerson (Colorado) and Jeremiah Borgerson (Arizona); grandchildren: Cora Borgerson and Marissa Borgerson; Jim's children, James Kevin McInroy (Washington), Kimberly Sue McInroy/Horn and husband Ted Horn (Arizona), Kurt McInroy and wife Vickie McInroy (Illinois) and Cindy McInroy/Gronau and husband Layne Gronau (Iowa); grandchildren, James Alan McInroy, Joseph McInroy and wife Liva McInroy, Amy McInroy/Gau and husband Matt Gau, and Tami McInroy. Ashley Stull/Gries and husband Brandon Gries, Courtney Stull, Hillary Horn, Meggan Horn, Morgan Horn/Michel and husband Zach Michel, Jo Grace Horn, Luke Horn, Levi Horn. Molly McInroy and Kate McInroy. Olivia Novak, Sam Novak, Finley Gronau and Hayden Gronau; great-grandchild, Joey McInroy; and his his brother: Orville McInroy amnd wife Lisa McInroy.
Jim was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Emma McInroy; brothers, Keith McInroy and Jerry McInroy; and Christina's father. Robert Borgerson.
A visitation/viewing will be held from to 1 to 1:45 p.m. on July 21 at the Shrine of Remembrance, followed by a procession to the Pikes Peak National Military Cemetery, where there will be a short ceremony and military send off at 2 p.m.
