JAMES "JIM" M. DEYO
Cedar Rapids
James "Jim" M. Deyo, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at his home on July 28, 2021, surrounded by his immediate family after a heroic five year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at
10 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, with Gordan Lewis officiating.
Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Deyo; children, Mark Deyo (Liz), Michelle Deyo and Marci Deyo (Sheila); sister, Rachel Deyo; brothers, Irvin Deyo and Fred Deyo; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and John; three brothers, Jack, Ron and Greg; and three grandsons, Brent, Brandon and Seth.
Jim was born July 29, 1938, in Spring Valley, Minn.. He had 3 loves in his life...his family, the Army and the Minnesota Vikings. He loved to walk, was active with his grandchildren and taught each one how to drive. Jim was selfless with his family, friends and neighbors. He would help anyone that he saw in need. His sense of humor would draw people in and made anyone that met him instantly feel like they were part of his family. Each child and grandchild will forever remember his many sayings. One of which is: If "if's and but's" were beer and nuts we'd all throw a party." He lived life to the fullest...SKOL.
