James (Jim) Louis Grundmeyer, 88, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Jim was born on February 3, 1937 to Dorothy (Kurtenbach) and Anthony Grundmeyer near Raeville, Nebraska. When he was three, his family moved to a farm near Dundee, Iowa. Jim graduated from Dundee High School in 1954 and served three years in the Army.
On November 23, 1961, Jim was united in marriage to Janice Puff at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Three children were born to this union. Jim held various jobs before purchasing a farm near Masonville in 1967. The family lived in Manchester until moving to the farm in 1978. Jim loved raising feeder cattle as well as crop farming. He retired in 2023. Jim enjoyed golfing, driving his two Studebakers, and collecting and sharing his passion for rocks. He was friendly, striking up conversations with everyone he met. Jim loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his three children, Julie (Tom) Seedorff of Livermore, California, JoAnn (Wade) Kaminski of Dixon, Illinois, and Jeff (Amy) Grundmeyer of Walker; seven grandchildren, Michael (Aaron) Seedorff, Nick (Kirstin) Seedorff, Jacob (Devin) Seedorff, Lauren Kaminski, Parker Kaminski, Jessica (Caleb) Fuessley, and Jonathan (Olivia Midcalf) Grundmeyer; sister, Rita Thole of Oelwein; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Janice; his parents; brothers Willis, Val, Tony, and Conrad; sisters Dorothy and Mary Ann; and a grandson, Benjamin Seedorff.
Jim’s immediate family will hold a private service at a later date. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Good Neighbor Home.
