James “Jim” Bacher, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital. As per the family’s wishes, private services will be held
at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids in caring for Jim and his family.
James was born July 4, 1930, in Burlington, the son of Herbert Otto and Hazel (Hayden) Bacher. He graduated from Cedar Rapids McKinley High School. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-52, during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Peggy Feddern on July 23, 1950, in Cedar Rapids. Jim worked as lab technician at Collins Radio and Iowa Precision. He was proud to build, own, fly his planes, as well as enjoyed wood carving.
Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy; his children, Jim Bacher Jr. and Pat Bacher; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Tommy (Clark) Morrow, Ellen (Murray) Barnett, Marguerite (Paul) Turner and Herbert Bacher Jr.
