James "J R" Wright, 78, of Greene, formerly of Marion, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024, at Woodley Funeral Home, 519 N 1st Street, Greene, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Greene is caring for J R and his family.
James Richard Wright was born November 22, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, son of Harry and Amelia (Middleton) Wright. He graduated from high school in Louisville. On September 20, 2003, James was united in marriage to Nancy Wallen at Freshwater Community Church in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. They lived in Marion for 13 years until they moved to Greene in November 2016. He worked as a district manager of Brown Shoe Company for 30 years. He retired and began driving school bus for the Marion School District and then for North Butler School District. James was also a member of SCORE.
James is survived by his wife Nancy Wright of Greene; daughter Amy Dolley of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren: Christy Anne Wallen of New York City, NY; Michael Wallen of Dallas, TX, and Matthew Wallen of Maple Plain, MN; and 8 stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and previous wife Pam Wright.
