JAMES G. HOPKINS

James G. Hopkins, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at his home. Per Jim's request, there will be no visitation or service. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Michael and Jay; two daughters, Julie and Maria, all of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, parents and two sisters.
Jim was born Sept. 21, 1933, in Cedar Rapids. He married Dolores Frank on Nov. 3, 1953, in Cedar Rapids. Dolores passed away in 2014.
Jim served proudly in the Army for three years and later retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He later worked as a mechanic at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado for 13 years, retiring in 1999.
Jim caddied as a boy and in later life enjoyed watching golf, fishing and the time spent with his beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
