James Dwayne Halliburton, 75, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Medical Center on May 1, 2015. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at New Disciples of Cedar Rapids Church, 621 Edgewood Rd. NW, Cedar Rapids, officiated by Pastor Stacia Fine. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 4, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
James Dwayne Halliburton was born Aug. 4, 1939, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Cecil and Lillie (Canfield) Halliburton. He graduated from Fremont High School with the class of 1958 and married Sandra Kitzmann on Sept. 2, 1960, at Indianapolis Christian Church in What Cheer. James was employed at Ralston Foods for 32 years as a supervisor of milling and then worked at Quaker Oats for eight years, retiring in 2005. He also was a member of New Disciples of Cedar Rapids Church.
James loved his family, music, dancing, travels to warm climates and playing cards. He also loved gardening and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra; his children, Curtis (Angelia) Halliburton of Des Moines, Kimberly Mackey of Cedar Rapids and Kendra (Bryan) Blomberg of Newhall; grandchildren, Bradley and Mark Mackey, James Halliburton and Kierstin, Megan and Sadie Blomberg; and his sister, Phyllis Anderson.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lillie Halliburton, and his brother, William Halliburton.
Instead of flowers, memorials in James' name may be made to New Disciples of Cedar Rapids Church.
