James C. Grassi, 38, died Friday, March 3, 2017, following an automobile accident in Muscatine County.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Father Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Visitation will be Monday, March 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Coralville.
In lieu of flowers, an educational fund for Mariah Grassi, James's daughter, has been established at Hills Bank and Trust.
James was born June 18, 1978, in Bemidji, Minn. He was a 1996 graduate of West Branch High School.
Most important to James was his daughter, Mariah, who was the light of his life. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and loved music, especially a deep bass. James had a heart of gold and was always there for family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Mariah of Coralville; his parents, Brian Grassi (Heidi Nobiling) of West Liberty; his fiancee, Alicia Keiller of Coralville; his former spouse, Lindsay Grassi of Iowa City; his great- aunt, Mary Anne Wallace; grandparents, Gerard (Joan) Nobiling; siblings, Tim and Lloyd Coblentz and Danielle Bogs; and his beloved pets, Spot, Lily, Elway and Katie.
Survivors also include his birth mother, Janie Walters (Rick) of Michigan.
James was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Gertrude Grassi; and uncles, Ronald and Gary.
