James Freeze, 69, died Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Regional Medical Center, Manchester, following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Hopkinton Community Church, with interment in Hopkinton Cemetery. Pastors Jan Lamont and Cheryl Gates will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.
Surviving are his wife, Diane; four sons, Mark (Tracy), Cedar Rapids, Matt (Penny Kaiser), Savage, Minn., Nathan (Courtney), Hopkinton, and Caleb (Shawna), Des Moines; 11 grandchildren, Bailey, Madeline, Sydney, Seneca, Saige, Skylar, Zander, Avary, Kyson, Lenyx and Jaxton; his mother, Virginia Freeze, Hopkinton; two brothers, Bob (Cindy Mensen), Elkader, and John, Jackson, Wyo.; and a sister-in-law, Darla (Pat) Henry, Manchester.
James Leslie Freeze was born May 12, 1948, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Leslie and Virginia Mesch Freeze. Jim graduated from Maquoketa Valley Community Schools with the class of 1966. Jim and Diane Heiberger were married May 1, 1967, at Delhi, Iowa. The couple farmed near Hopkinton. Jim also worked at Swiss Valley Ag Service, and later for Innovative Ag Service in Hopkinton, where he retired in 2010. Jim was a member of Hopkinton Community Church.
