JAMES FRANCE
Tipton
James Robert France, 75, of Boulder Junction, Wis., and Tipton, died March 28, 2015, at home after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa, to James Delaplane France and Jean Elizabeth (Hahn) France. He married Linda Lou Johnson on Sept. 10, 1960, in Hinsdale, Ill.
Jim was a retired resort owner in Boulder Junction and former director of parks and recreation for the city of Beloit, Wis. He was president of the Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce for six years and a sponsor of Pheasants Forever for 25 years. Jim was a graduate of Tipton High School and the University of Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; daughter, Barbara Smasal (Joseph Bradac); children, Jason and Erin Fillner of Wisconsin; and sons, Todd and children Brianne and Rachel of Illinois, Timothy (Jonelle) and children Maxwell, Cameron and Olivia of Michigan and Terry (Jennifer) and children Noah and Madelyn of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his father, James; mother, Jean; and sister, Mary Jean Emrich.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the family home, 1050 210th St., Tipton.
In lieu of flowers, a James Robert France Memorial Fund has been established.
