James Fred Becker, 62, of Waukon, IA died Friday, June 6, 2025, at the WinnMed hospital in Decorah, IA after a five-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 at Salem United Church of Christ, rural Waukon, IA.
Jim was born Sept. 7, 1962, to Karl and Jean (Murphy) Becker in Waukon, IA. He attended schools at North Fayette in West Union, IA.
He was married on Aug.23, 1986 to Rochelle Price. They later divorced. To this union, three children were born.
Jim was a talented builder in concrete, carpentry and other facets of construction. He worked for Ace Construction in Grimes, IA traveling to NYC for structural steel, SCI in Ossian, IA in construction, Agri processors in Postville, IA in maintenance as well as a self-employed carpenter. Jim enjoyed showing his kids on the weekends to show them what he was working on.
Jim liked music, motorcycles, concerts and ‘cruising’, stopping at nearly every convenience store he passed. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A special joy was his first grandchild, Allie, born in 2020.
Jim is survived by his children, Mitchell Becker of Madison, WI, Colton Becker of Oklahoma City, OK and Tori (Josh) Kleckner, granddaughter Allie of Mason City, IA and stepdaughter Steph Baltzell of Broken Arrow, OK, sister Lane (Bill) Bley of McFarland, WI, Dan Becker of Waukon, IA and John (Tina) Becker of Weatherford, OK. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Karl and Jean Becker, aunts, uncles and first cousins.
With deep appreciation and gratitude, the family wishes to thank WinnMed Hospice, our wonderful Nurse Sam and Keegan and our good, caring neighbors for their support, food and visits.
