James Edward Triplett, 58, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 29, 2018.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Peoples Church Unitarian Universalist, 4980 Gordon Ave. N.W., Cedar Rapids.
Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
James was born Feb. 27, 1960, in St. Louis, Mo., and attended Mahomet-Seymour High School and Southern Illinois University, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. James then moved to Cedar Rapids where he started his 33-year career at Rockwell Collins. James recently had been promoted to principal application engineer.
James loved his family, singing barbershop and ballooning. He was co-founder of 21st Century Vocals barbershop group in Cedar Rapids and sang with them throughout the Midwest. He particularly liked peforming singing valentines every February and competing in barbershop contests with his chorus and quartet. He also was an avid photographer and loved photographing nature.
James was preceded in death by his father, George Triplett; and step-daughter, Erika Abbas.
He leaves behind his wife, Pam; son, Drake; stepdaughter, Leah MacMillan (Ramsey); grandchildren, Christopher and Danielle MacMillan; mother, Julia Triplett; sister, Pam Triplett (Ken Denson); nephew, Eric Denson; and many wonderful cousins, family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
