James R. "Jim" Eckrich, 70, lifelong resident of Cosgrove, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at home.
A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cosgrove. The Rev. Edmond Dunn will officiate.
Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. A parish wake service will begin at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Jim Eckrich Memorial Fund.
Jim was born March 13, 1947, in Iowa City, the son of Francis "Frank" and Marguerite "Mag" (Graper) Eckrich. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1966 and dedicated his work to the family farm his entire life.
Jim is survived by his brother, Larry Eckrich (Penny) of Cosgrove; nieces and nephews, David Eckrich, Douglas Eckrich (Amy), Dennis Eckrich (Melissa), Andrew Eckrich (Courtney) and Amanda Simpson (Chris); great-nieces and great-nephews, Jenna, Jared, Adam, Abby, Kendra, Jace, Bailey, Kane, Brinley, Bryson, Kendall and Drew; and a great-great-nephew, Jeremiah.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steve Eckrich; and a great-nephew, Oxen Eckrich.
