James D. Daubenmier, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at his home. A private family service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The service will be livestreamed at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, and may be viewed at client.

As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; a daughter, Jeri (John) Huyett of Arden Hills, Minn.; a son, Mark (Sheri) of Kijabe, Kenya; stepson, Andrew (Rogelio Lopez) Merrell of Richmond, Calif.; and three brothers, Ron (Kay) of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Judy) of Michigan and Steve of Colorado. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Megan, Emily, Grace, Nathan, Michael, Daniel, Addison, Kara, Christine and Erin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim was born June 29, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Derrell and Eva (Vifian) Daubenmier. He graduated from Jefferson High School and later from Iowa State University. Jim married Diane L. Howard on July 16, 1994, in Pasadena, Calif. He worked in commercial real estate in the Cedar Rapids area for many years.
Jim was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. He was a past board member of the Cedar Rapids Community Health Free Clinic and served with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Jim was a bike enthusiast, biking on multiple RAGBRAIs. He enjoyed skiing, participating in triathlons, travel with his family and flying for over 40 years.
Jim will forever be remembered as a wonderful and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be given to Kenya Kids Can or the Cedar Rapids Community Health Free Clinic in Jim's name.
