James L. Clar, 88, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, died there Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015. Per Jim's request, there will be no visitation or service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Carla) of Ryan; a daughter, JoAnn (Lester) Lang of Monona; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie, in 2012; a daughter, Pat St. Germain; son-in-law, Dennis St. Germain; and several brothers and sisters.
Jim was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Marshalltown, the son of Henry and Agnes Hanisch Clar. He married Minnie A. Adelmund on June 5, 1948, in Nashua.
Jim worked at Wilson & Co. for over 26 years, retiring in 1989. He proudly served in the Army during World War II and had the opportunity to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in 2014.
Jim was a real outdoorsman. He enjoying fishing, camping and canoeing.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy in Jim's name.
