James Brodersen, 78, of Guttenberg, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Guttenberg Care Center. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from noon until service time Tuesday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Brian Brodersen of Warrensburg, Mo., Julie (Jeff) Evans of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Brodersen of Cedar Rapids and Wendy (Troy) Anderson of Nevada, Iowa; grand-children, Michael Evans, Brandi Evans, Cody Anderson and Chelsea Anderson; and sister, Brodina Curtis of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary (Edith) Brodersen; and brother, Marvin Brodersen.
James was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Christian and Marie (Dougherty) Brodersen. He worked as an iron worker for Local 89 Iron Workers Union. On June 20, 1959, he married Mary Edith in Cedar Rapids. James served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for six years.
