James Kent "Farmer" Brant II, 58, of 210 N. Ash, Ottumwa, died 2:25 a.m. Aug. 14, 2014, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born April 11, 1956, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to James Kent and Eva Floreen Bryan Brant. He married Sheryl Visser and they later divorced. He married Dottie Abbott and they later divorced.
Kent grew up in Elberon, and was a 1974 graduate of Benton Community High School.
He had worked in the gypsum mine near Oskaloosa, at Clow Manufacturing in Oskaloosa and for over 20 years, worked at Excel/Cargill Meat Solutions in Ottumwa. He was a member of UFCW Local 230.
Kent enjoyed making knives, bows, arrows, whistles and dream catchers. He loved his hobbies and riding his motorcycle.
Surviving are his significant other, Glenda Orman; a daughter, Amy (Scott) Nichols of Oskaloosa; a grandson, Steven Nichols; his father and stepmother, James and Darlene Brant of Atkins; two brothers, Kim (Barb) Brant of Atkins and Garry (Isabelle) Brant of Williamsburg; a sister, Karen Brant of Cedar Rapids; and numerous aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Floreen Brant; and his first wife, Sheryl Visser, and his second wife, Dottie Abbott.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 1 p.m. Monday in Keystone Cemetery, Keystone, with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating.
