James "Jim" Bramley, 73, of New Ulm, Minn., died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at his home. Burial will be 4 p.m. April 11 at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Earlville. A celebration of life will follow the burial service at the Shop Bar and Banquet Hall in Earlville.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Kim (Jeff) Fehlhafer of Marion, Geni (Dwight) DeBoer of Lafayette and Pam (David) Webster of Shakopee, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Heidi Bramley of Burnsville, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, William "Bill" (Lorie) Bramley of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cherie, on Nov. 13, 2004; a son, Thomas, on Sept. 21, 2014; and a great-granddaughter, Cecilia.
James Henry Bramley, son of Harold and Helen (Diesch) Bramley, was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Manchester, Iowa. He was a 1958 graduate of Earlville High School in Earlville. After high school, Jim attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On Dec. 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Cherie Brecht at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. After marriage, he worked at various locations around Earlville. In 1969, Jim became an insurance agent for Farm Bureau and in June 1977, he moved his family to Winthrop, where he continued with Farm Bureau Insurance. After 35 years with Farm Bureau, Jim retired. He then started Property Claims of New Ulm, continuing to operate that up until his death. In 1990, they moved to New Ulm.
Jim was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, longtime member of Turner Hall and the Turnverein, where he was a past board member, gambling manager and had served on various other committees. He also was a past member of the New Ulm Country Club. Jim enjoyed being with his family, going to sporting events and playing a good game of golf.
